The data from very-rapid-scan systems will have important differences from conventional FT-IR data. This slides shows that in a conventional system operating at a mirror velocity of 6 cm/s appropriate for an MCT detector, the modulation frequencies of mid-IR radiation will range from 2.5 to 25 kHz, while a HeNe reference laser will be modulated at 100 kHz.
