Smoke and Mirrors: Ultra-Rapid-Scan FT-IR
Spectrometry
Each of these spectra was transformed from a single 6 ms scan. The source
is not very bright and it is fluctuating substantially. In spite of the low signal and the
potentially strong multiplicative noise source, it appears that the noise level is
independent of the signal. The emission bands of hot CO2 can be clearly seen at
2300 and 700 cm-1 in the later spectra.
